Photographic work on some abandoned buildings and constructions throughout the territory of the island of Mallorca, made by the architect and architectural photographer Lluís Bort. These constructions, on many occasions, were erected to fulfill a very specific function and over the years they became obsolete and forgotten. However, this does not mean that they are no longer useful, but that they should have the opportunity to be rehabilitated to enjoy a second life, providing them with a new use for their neighbors and their environment.

Estas construcciones, en muchas ocasiones, se erigieron para cumplir una función muy concreta y con el paso de los años quedaron obsoletas y olvidadas. Sin embargo, esto no quiere decir que ya no sirvan, sino que deberían tener la oportunidad de ser rehabilitadas para disfrutar de una segunda vida, dotándolas con un nuevo uso para sus vecinos y su entorno.

Vernacular architecture, in different cultures and in different climatic conditions, has always incorporated, sometimes very explicitly, architectural strategies to manage and organize fluid matter creating very specific atmospheres (in its broadest sense).

HARQUITECTES is a studio founded in 2000 by David Lorente, Josep Ricart, Xavier Ros and Roger Tudó. They combine their professional activity giving classes at ETSAV-UPC, ETSAB-UPC, ETH Zurich and Harvard GSD.

La arquitectura vernacular, en las diferentes culturas y en las diferentes condiciones climáticas, siempre ha incorporado, a veces de manera muy explícita, estrategias arquitectónicas para gestionar y organizar la materia fluida creando atmósferas muy concretas (en su sentido más amplio).

HARQUITECTES es un estudio fundado en 2000 por David Lorente, Josep Ricart, Xavier Ros y Roger Tudó. Combinan su actividad profesional dando clases a la ETSAV-UPC, ETSAB-UPC, ETH Zurich y Harvard GSD.

L’arquitectura vernacular, en les diferents cultures i en les diferents condicions climàtiques, sempre ha incorporat, de vegades de manera molt explícita, estratègies arquitectòniques per gestionar i organitzar la matèria fluida creant atmosferes molt concretes (en el seu sentit més ampli).

Aquestes construccions, en moltes ocasions, es van erigir per a complir una funció molt concreta i amb el pas dels anys van quedar obsoletes i oblidades. Tanmateix, això no vol dir que ja no serveixin, sinó que haurien de tenir l’oportunitat de ser rehabilitades per a gaudir d’una segona vida, dotant-les amb un nou ús per als seus veïns i el seu entorn.
